The Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of Tibet. The title "Dalai Lama" means "Ocean of Wisdom." Every Dalai Lama is believed to be a reincarnation of the previous one. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was recognized at a young age and has been a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism and the Tibetan struggle for freedom. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his nonviolent struggle for the liberation of Tibet.
"Every day, think as you wake up: Today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it." (We can’t change the past or predict the future, so let’s stop regretting what has happened and worrying about what might come. Instead, focus on what you can do today. Remember, trading is an action, but maintaining your current position without change is also an action.)
"It is very rare or almost impossible that an event can be negative from all points of view." (If a stock you bought falls in price, it’s unfortunate, but there is always a lesson to be learned. If you can learn from the experience and move forward, then the event can be seen in a positive light.)
The following quotes from the Dalai Lama may be challenging to connect directly to investment, but it is so insightful that I wanted to share it with you anyway:
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion."
"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."
“Open your arms to change but don't let go of your values.”
